37 ~ Reflecting on an incredible year of hiking, adventure, and time outside with loved ones!

I love adventures and I’m going to continue finding some on my next lap around the sun!
This year I roadtripped around five new-to-me states, hiked five state highpoints, and visited three National Parks. My travels brought me to my 45th US state, 37th National Park, and 36th state highpoint. Wander and I finished her New England 64 4,000 footer hiking list with an overnight on the Bigelows in Maine! I loved being (Aunt) Ali to my three nieces, Willa, Kaia, and Lenni, and spending time together as a family outside, including an overnight backpacking trip to Greenleaf Hut with my parents and lots of great walks with the dogs.
For my next year, I hope to remain adventurous, goal-chasing, and optimistic. You can’t add days to your life, but you can add life to your days, living life by enjoying each day like the gift that it is. Here’s to another year of adventure! Happy Birthday to me ❤️‍🔥

In the days leading up to winter, I’ve been finding gear, checking my winter hiking list for everything Wander, my Labrador Retriever, and I might need in the mountains, and prepping for a heavier backpack with snowshoes, microspikes, and all the layers winter hiking with colder temperatures and extreme weather conditions requires.
Make sure you are prepared if you plan to winter hike! Know the mountain will always be there and every experienced hiker has a list of peaks or trails on which they have turned around. This is an accepted and respected aspect of winter hiking and mountaineering. What are you hiking first this winter?

I often look back at my pictures around the Thanksgiving season. It helps me remember all the experiences I’ve loved throughout the year. Though there are many moments and feelings the pictures don’t capture directly, they do bring me back to the memories around each one and that’s why I treasure them. Pictures of hiking with Wander are always among my favorites!
